MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Principal

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you and your children to Nada International School for the start of the 2011-2012 academic year. We trust that your summer has been filled family leisure. However, the summer vacation rapidly draws to a conclusion and our focus returns to the preparations required for the beginning of another school year.

As a non – profit organization operated under the guidance of a Board of Trustees, we aspire to offer our student body an excellent academic education, with university entrance preparation being an intrinsic goal, plus a range of motivational educational opportunities. NIS is devoted developing well-rounded young people who have the skills and values that will enable them to flourish in the modern world – discipline, integrity, courtesy, honesty, hard-work, perseverance and concern for others. We require students to respect themselves, others and property. Students are expected to fully participate in all areas of school life, and to represent NIS well within school and the wider community.

NIS is striving to become an “Evidence Based School”, which adopts innovations, based on proven and acclaimed educational research. This stance takes away the uncertainty that surrounds many of the so called “innovations” that periodically come to the fore in educational circles. NIS strives to improve student outcomes through this research based approach.

Our student body is diverse, with expatriates from over 25 different countries. In 2010 / 2011 the students who enrol at NIS experience a high quality international education, which caters for the needs of those aged 3 – 171. In 2010 / 2011 NIS will be opening classes for Pre- KG, in addition to expanding into Grade 11. We also have a small nursery which caters for the needs of children under the age of 3. At the start of the 2010 / 2011 academic year NIS will complete the final phase of its expansion by opening Grade 12.

Our school has all the advantages of being supported by the Al- Othman Group, but aims to retain family based ethos, high levels of student support and professional (but human) relationships that characterise  the small school environment. Since 2002, the Board of Trustees has made a longstanding commitment to facility enhancement and staffing. Resultantly, we are proud of the fact that we offer unrivalled safety for children within the highly secure Nada Village Compound have well-cared-for, park-like grounds where children are encouraged to play and that we have an ever improving excellent set of professionals at the school.  Other facilities include high tech ICT suites, a well equipped library and well resourced science laboratories, plus purpose built classrooms.

NIS is fully accredited by CITA (Commission of International Trans-Regional Accreditation). We are also an approved College Board Examination Centre, and as such are currently the only educational institution to be allowed to teach and examine student with the SAT I (Reasoning) and SAT II (Subject Tests) on campus, within Al-Ahsa. During 2009 /2010 the school was inspected by the British Council and Cambridge International Examinations. We are now an approved CIE Attached Centre and British Council Examination Centre. This makes NIS the only school in the region that is licensed to teach and examine IGCSE at the school. During the forthcoming academic year NIS will be actively pursuing approval to teach / examine a wide range of AS / A level subjects.

Parents are welcome to visit us at school. Please do not hesitate to call us regarding your child's education. We also appreciate offers of help in with extra-curricular activity and participation in other areas of school life.

Sincerely,

Tony Fynn,

Principal
