SAT II (Subject Tests)
College Board offer a total of 20 SAT II (Subject Tests). Unfortunately many of the SAT II (Subject Tests) fall into the Languages group (Hebrew / Korean / Italian / German / Spanish etc). As a result NIS will only be able to offer the following SAT II courses
-
English Literature
-
World History or USA History (taking both is little use to a student as they are at the same level)
-
Mathematics L1 / L2
-
Biology
-
Chemistry
-
Physics
-
French
HOW IS SAT II EXAMINED / GRADED?
Students are allowed to undertake a maximum of THREE SAT II (Subject Tests) in any single examination session. Each SAT II (Subject Test) is examined through a one hour multiple choice examination. Scores for all SAT Subject Tests are reported on a 200 – 800 scale, where 200 is the lowest attainable score and 800 is the highest. Incorrect answers are penalized.
According to College Board (2008) “SAT Subject Tests are designed to measure students’ knowledge and skills in particular subject areas, as well as their ability to apply that knowledge. Students take the SAT Subject Tests to demonstrate to colleges their mastery of specific subjects: English, history, mathematics, science, and foreign languages. The tests are independent of any particular textbook or method of instruction.”
NB – ALTHOUGH THE SAT II (Subject Tests) ARE MULTIPLE CHOICE STUDENTS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT THE QUESTIONS ARE HIGHLY ACADEMIC IN CONTENT ARE REQUIRE CONSIDERABLE SUBJECT KNOWLEDGE. |
